I’ve only tried Rouge Hematite, and I like it. It’d be nice to get a chance to try the others though!

  2. Harry Devlin

Love your store, the pens, notepads, paper, inks, all of it. Love talking with you guys. I only write with fountain pens. My favorite is the TWSBI line. Doing allot of training with my two hunting dogs (labs, Jax & Mags). They are so much fun. You guys will be great in your new spot.

  3. Amy P

I’m looking forward to being able to make the trip out to the new location! I just need to make sure to add extra padding into the budget first. Lol

  4. Debora Lustgarten

Oooh! Those inks are sooo tempting. I’ve always had my eye on the Rouge hematite, but I have to confess that this last blue is a heavy contender. Fingers crossed so the Ink Fairy looks my way!

  5. Karen Dick

Hi Liz and Jon! Glad to hear that the move has gone well – I hope to visit your new place someday :). When I visited the Dundas store for the first time in March, I talked myself out of the Stormy Grey and am now regretting it! Have a super weekend πŸ™‚

  6. Well, I guess it would not be very smart to leave this one without a comment :). I have the feeling, the red one would look the most tempting to me of the three, I’m partial to red inks and the touch of gold has never spoiled anything :).

  7. Hmmm. You mean I have to pick a favourite colour? I guess I’d choose Bleu Ocean if I won, although I would be thrilled to try any of these inks.

Around here, the warm weather means my high school students are skipping class to soak up the sun πŸ™ and the baby calves on my husband’s farm are doing the same πŸ™‚

All the best with your new shop – can’t wait to check you out this summer!

  8. Hey there! I hope I’ll be in Toronto some time this summer so I can finally stop by the shop! I’ve had my eye on Stormy Grey for a while, but all three of the 1670 inks seem fantastic.

  9. jill

Oh stormy gray for sure. Though it seems more of a winter colour. I am sure it would look fine is the sunshine.

  10. I haven’t tried it yet, but I’m pretty sure Bleu Ocean would be top of my list (it is, in fact, top of my wishlist) because it’s blue and I miss the ocean.

I wish I could come and visit your shop! Maybe someday I’ll have to make a trip to Toronto and squeeze in a quick trip to visit you guys.

  11. Samuel Harvey

The bleu ocean! Somehow I’ve never purchased blue ink. and unfortunately, I’m not ejoing the warm temperature since I’m preparing to move to another city πŸ™

  12. Blue is my favourite colour, and I do like a nice red. However, I’m going to have to go with Stormy Grey. I think this is more because of the fact I rarely (if at all) use grey inks. It’s rarity relative to the other colours makes it stand out, I think.

I’m just returning to Toronto after an extended stay in Mississauga. Once I’m settled back in I hope to visit your new location! I can’t wait to see the new space.

  13. Visited last week on opening day and will be back tomorrow to pick up bleu ocean. Will check out the stormy grey while I’m there. New place looks great, welcome to the east side πŸ™‚

  14. Ajmal S.

    Hello John and Liz,

Amazing website. I Love the Fountain Pens I have bought from your store.

The TWSBI pens are especially great and I would love to try a new Bleu Ocean Ink.

    See you both very soon.

  15. Joanna

I love Stormy Grey. Just beautiful. So far, this warm weather is making me take longer walks than usual and it’s the best! Congrats on the new spot!

  16. Shakil M. Khan

Hey guys! Glad to see you open again. I like all three inks, but I think I would have loved the Blue better it the sheen was a silver one. Oh well!

  17. Stephane Normandin

Amazing give away! πŸ™‚ I wanted to try the gray but if I win it or not, I’ll try it anyway! πŸ˜€
I wish you all the very best to your store. I ordered just once so far from you but its not the last, you’ll remain my best source for ink in Canada!!! Long live to Wonder Pens!!!

  18. Nicol

Zoinks! Me wants a bleu ocean! Hope to visit the new store next time I’m in Toronto!
Congrats on the new place =]

  19. I haven’t tried the new formulation of Bleu Ocean, but the original is my favourite ink. Stormy Grey is also a lovely colour — love the gold flecks.

  20. Christopher Wilson

Rouge Hematite and Stormy Grey are great, but ever since I heard that Bleu Ocean was coming out, I’ve been super jazzed to try that.

  21. Lee Whitehorne

Stormy Grey has become my EDC ink in my Lamy 2000. Rouge Hematite is my Christmas ink. I get so many complements on the ink and paper I use for my seasonal letters. I never tried the original Bleu Ocean as it did not have the gold sparkles, but I am very interested in acquiring some now that it does.

  22. Jeffery Hunter

I enjoy reading here and this has prompted me to leave a comment, First congrats on the move! As for the weather well I happen to be in Vancouver so not much winter here but full on shorts and sandals of late. I have been looking at that grey and even added it to my shopping cart once. Its only a matter of time I think!

  23. Sujaan

Haven’t tried Bleu Ocean or Rouge Hematite yet, but Stormy Gray is lovely with all of those golden flakes.

  24. So glad the new neighbourhood is making you feel at home! I mean to come by soon when my own packing gets under control. (If you have any boxes you need to get rid of, i can take them off your hands!) I have been coveting that Bleu Ocean since you posted those gorgeous pics on the blog.

  25. Faizul Muhit

I love the Bleu Ocean! I like to use my pen for everyday university/office uses so blue tends to work best, with grey as a close second. I’m happy that we finally have nice weather — I think we’ve earned it! Can’t wait to make trips out to the parks and beaches as the days roll by.

  26. Sonya

Would love to try the Bleu OcΓ©an! or really, any of them =) Hope to drop by the new store some time soon!

  27. I usually write with grey ink (Private Reserve Grey Flannel) so I’d go with grey. Hang on! I like blue and have 18 different blues, so maybe the blue? Decisions! Decisions! Ok grey it is. No! Blue. Ok, I’ll stick with blue. Final decision, Regis.

PS welcome to the neighbourhood. I recall visiting the old shop and suggesting you open your second franchise here. I’m delighted to see you are here – I’ve already been twice. Oh yes, and Ed’s Real Scoop’s blood orange sorbet is the best ice cream on the planet.

  28. Giovanna

Hello there; I am would love to try out any one of these inks and I have never tried any of them before. I am an ink newby and don’t have experience with everyday inks, let alone these sparkly wonders.

I am enjoying this weather and working lots, sometimes seven days and week at two jobs. I am waiting for August to roll around when I will be taking a month off of for rest and exploration.

    Thank you for doing this.

  29. Pauline Quan

    Welcome to the East side!
I look forward to stopping by your new shop.
I am enjoying my blue Kaweco pen that I got for my Bday. Would love to fill it with Bleu Ocean.

  30. rockman1974

I’ve tried and enjoyed Rouge Hematite. I really love the dry color.

I’m glad your enjoying your new digs πŸ™‚

I’ve tried Rouge Hematite and I really enjoy the drying color.

Glad you’re enjoying your new digs πŸ™‚

  33. I love the new space! I was so surprised by the size of the shop, as it was humongous. I liked the chalkboard wall very much, it was so big and beautiful.
I would pick Rouge Hermatite, for somehow I never got my hands on any red inks!

  34. parobertson

Awesome idea. I guess I’d have to say that Bleu Ocean really caught my attention after reading your last blog posting. Can’t wait to get into the new shop to check it out!!

  35. i like all of them, especially the design of the bottle however if i can only pick a colour then i’ll go with blue (just realized i don’t have this colour in my collection).

  36. Owen

Out of the three, I would go with the Stormy Grey. I think it’s going to work great with my blue pumpkin nib.

  37. Annie Lam

I remember the last time I went into your shop that the Rouge Hematite caught my eye and noticed that there was a lone bottle of Stormy Grey. However, Jon did tell me that Bleu Ocean was an option too and I was smitten. I am glad you guys managed to get some in!

  38. Johannes Harlander

Glad to hear that your move went well.

Although it will be a longer drove for me (I live in t West End), I will of course keep visiting you shop, to pick up some of the excellent selection of pens, inks and accessories.

I have only tried Rogue Hematite, but am very eager to try the Stormy Grey as well! πŸ™‚

  39. George

My feelings towards Stormy Grey are tenderly disposed, but each surely is as lovely as the next! And I pray that all of your week-ends are lovelier still. πŸ™‚

  40. Madox

I would love to see the new store! I’ve been keeping up with the updates, and it looks fantastic. (I’d love to try the Stormy Grey ink too…I’ve never seen anything like that before, and I can imagine that it would inspire great things! The colour is beautiful…I’ve got a sketchbook that’s absolutely begging to make magic with it…)

  41. Helen

Hello! I got the Rouge Hematite and it was the ink I used for all my tea party invitations since last winter. That said, I wouldn’t mind trying some Bleu Ocean. I think it’ll inspire some cooling thoughts for the hot summer. The ink looks magical and I’m sure it is. =D

  42. Robert

I haven’t had a chance to drop by the new shop yet, but hopefully I’ll have time soon! I think I’d like Stormy Grey the best, as it’s the most muted of the three, but the Bleu looks beautiful too…and so does the Rouge!

  43. Elaine Chak

Hi Liz! I couldn’t say which of the three inks I like best…they all look like great colours. Lots to see and do in your new neighbourhood. Glad to hear you’re enjoying it!

  44. Mr Ahab

While I would love any of the three colours, your review of the blue has certainly sold me on it! Congrats on the new location and I have to say your service never lagged during your move as I received my pens and inks on schedule! I’ll be placing my next order soon:))

  45. Bethany

I’ve only tried Stormy Grey but I absolutely love. I’ve been anxiously awaiting the blue since hearing about the changes!

  46. I’ve never actually tried J. Herbin inks but they sound interesting and worth a go. Maybe if I win I can use them with the reams of Tomoe River paper I plan to buy off you (whenever you get the chance to package them…or I guess I could buy a whole ream at once). πŸ™‚

Glad the move went okay and hopefully I’ll be able to drop by more often now that you’re in the east end.

  47. John Peeler

I’d really enjoy a bottle of Rouge Hermatite. It looks wonderfully rich. I have the blue and gray and really enjoy them. It is starting to get very humid here in NC.

  48. Inkophile

These inks look gorgeous! Congrats on getting settled into the new place. Hope to visit you soon! πŸ™‚

  49. Ryan Clements

Glad to hear the move went well, I hope everyone gets a chance to visit the ice cream shop or maybe someone will deliver some for you guys and gals. I have yet to try these inks but I am torn between the storm grey and the ocean blue the both look amazing.

  50. Emily C

Hello from Halifax! I’ve yet to try any of these inks, but had my eye on rouge hematite and stormy grey for a while! I can’t wait to visit Toronto this summer so I can finally get to your shop.

  51. Isabelle

Didn’t have a chance to go to the old place but hopefully I will this one. I do order online quite often. I did try stormy Grey but blue with sparkle would be a great addition to my addiction.

  52. Hi there Jon and Liz! I have only tried the Bleu Ocean but I can say that is is my go-to ink for fancy letters. I have an (unopened) bottle of Stormy Grey but have been thinking that I would have to get a copy of additional flex pens to really enjoy the 1670 inks. I’ve tried the Bleu Ocean in a Noodler’s Ahab and a Lamy Vista Medium. The Ahab is lovely. The Lamy does not let the gold flakes through, so have stopped that! I mean, what is the point of that???

I would LOVE to try out all three!

  53. Samantha

Congratulation on the successful move! Stormy grey is definitely my favourite! I am enjoying this wonderful Toronto weather by rollerblading around home as using it as a mode of transportation downtown. Thanks guys for offering this giveaway, have a great day! πŸ™‚

  54. Christine

Hello! Glad to hear you are settling in. Love the stormy grey, but the blue also looks spectacular. I’m not in Toronto that often, but your new shop is definitely on my list of places to visit. Happy weekend!

  55. Emily M.

Congratulations on the move and best of luck settling in. I’d be excited to use any of those three inks; they all look gorgeous.

  56. Sevan

Bonjour from Montreal! I’m so happy to have found your online store and hope to one day get to visit you in person! The Stormy Grey must look lovely, but the Bleu Ocean has me sooo intrigued. All that glitter!

  57. KG

I’m not sure which I would like the best since I have not had the opportunity to use it.
However, my pen pal has used both Stormy Grey and Rouge Hematite and if I had to choose it would be Stormy Grey. I love how they all look though.

Hopefully I can stop by the new store and pick up samples soon.

    KG

  58. Nancy

blue is my favourite ink colour for fountain pens though I’d like to try them all. Good luck with the new shop – I look forward to visiting.

  59. mfranks

I’ve been eyeing that Stormy Grey for awhile! I’m glad the new shop is working out so far. I can’t wait to see how you fill up such a nice, large space!

  60. Frowningtea

Congrats on the move! Glad to see that everything went relatively well.

I already own Stormy Grey but Rouge Hematite has been on my want-to-try list for a while.

  61. Congrats on your new location. It’s been a stormy few days here in southeast BC. My favourite, the stormy grey, would match our skies right now. I’m not complaining about the weather because it has been exceptionally dry here this spring. We need the rain. Good luck in your new location.

  62. Trixia

Hello Jon, Liz, Super and baby Wonderpens πŸ™‚ Congratulations on the move. You guys definitely made me a fountain pen addict. Thanks for creating Wonder Pens for us Canadians and keep up the good work! I can’t wait to see more wonderful pens (pun intended!), inks, papers and everything else in between to be added to your shop.

Oh and I love the Stormy Grey & am really crushing on the Rouge Hematite πŸ™‚

  63. Lida

I think the rouge hematite is my favourite, although I’d be equally thrilled to try out one of the other two!

  64. Emile Miramontes

Although its been rainy today, I was tempted to walk to the new location. You’re now so close to home, that I’m going to be broke the day after payday each week! LOL Welcome to the neighborhood Wonder Pens. My ink choice would be Stormy Grey, definitely! : )

  65. Hello!
My favourite is Stormy Grey. It’s good to read that you are settling in and people are finding you. I’ve been spending the warm days with my 14 week old puppy ~ in particular helping her beat the heat by slowly adding water (over the course of the day) to a wading pool on the deck. She plays with the water stream and jumps about splashing happily, having a blast, and I am always laughing at soggy dog antics ..especially when she decides I’m still dry and she is going to fix that problem immediately! The Water is then scooped out in the evening to water the garden…a chore she also helps with …
    πŸ˜€

  66. Justin Yu

Hello,I like Stormy Grey, something different…I’m working on real estate course and was hoping to finish before summer, now it got a bit delate maybe I’ll take small vacation in warm weather like these before the course starts, lol

  67. Scott

Perhaps it is good I don’t live in a province with fountain pens. I would buy too many inks and pens!

  68. VP

Have heard a lot about these inks. Haven’t gotten around to buying one. Hope I win. Congratulations on the move!

  69. Love both stormy grey and bleu ocean! Although think stormy grey would be my go to as something a bit special. Loving being able to walk outside without a zillions layers!
Enjoy your new location and look forward to visiting the shop!

  70. KC

Bleu Ocean would definitely be my favourite. Although Rouge Hematite is a nice colour it’s hard to use it in everyday writing.

  71. Minty

Hi there, I hope everything continues to go smoothly at your shop! All three inks are stunning. The pictures of Bleu Ocean remind me of sunlight scattered over waves.

  72. Judy

I ordered my first fountain pen and ink from you this spring and am enjoying using them….I am anxious to visit your new shop. It sounds wonderful. My first ink is brown, I think the red sounds quite delicious for my next venture. Best wishes.

  73. dannytang

I’ve never used never used any of the anniversary inks, but I do like other J. Herbin inks such as Vert Olive and Violette PensΓ©. Congrats on the new location, I’m hoping to drop by this weekend.

  74. I think based on colour I like the Bleu Ocean, just because of the gorgeous blue with the shimmering gold in it. Thanks for the giveaway and I’m excited to pay a visit to the store! πŸ™‚

  75. Daniel

The rouge hematite would give my horror writing a nice macabre feel πŸ™‚ Can’t wait to see your new place!

  76. Brandon

Really excited to visit the new shop!
Haven’t tried any J. Herbin inks yet but that’s definitely on my to-do list!

  77. thyna

i cannot wait to be back in toronto and make a stop at your new shop at last! very excited to come (and drag along some friends who are now expressing interest in fountain pens after listening to me ramble about them all the time) (: i haven’t had a chance to try these inks out yet – i’ve barely opened my new iroshizuku and noodler’s inks – but this giveaway is so lovely of you to do. thank you so much!

  78. Welcome to the east side! I can’t wait to swing by this week and check out the new space! I haven’t tried any of these inks – have only purchased the noodles and Lamy cartridges before, but I look forward to testing them out. They are beautifully packaged! Thanks for the opportunity!

  79. I am super excited to visit your new shop! (especially now that you’re about half the distance away than you used to be lol).

I love Stormy Grey – the sparkle is unreal. Unfortunately the version of rouge hematite i got was the non-sparkle one. Thanks for the opportunity!!

  80. Kerry

    Hello fellow writers,
My favourite is the Blue Ocean by far followed by Stormy Grey with Rouge Hemitite bring up the rear. I love that blue Ocean is so saturated and that you can see the sheen almost all the time even with finer nibs. My fav combo is to have it in with a Blue Lamy Safari with a 1.1 italic nib.

  81. Natalia

This is a great idea for a giveaway, I love the Bleu Ocean and the way the blue and gold compliment each other so well. I was so glad to come across WonderPens when I was introduced to fountain pens. I love being able to order from a local family business. I can’t wait until I get a chance to see the new space!

  82. Aaron

We are so lucky to have a shop like Wonder Pens in Canada; where else would we get J. Herbin inks and various iterations of Clairefontaine paper on which to use it! I’ve always loved J. Herbin’s blues, and I’m ecstatic to see that they put this wonderful new blue in a container that (finally) rivals the beautiful Iroshizuku hand-blown glass. I haven’t yet had the opportunity to try this ink out, so thank you so much for the opportunity to potentially do so for free!

  83. fionnly

Of the three inks, I’ve only tried Rouge Hematite and Stormy Grey so far. I love the gold they lay down in a flex pen, and I’m definitely looking forward to sampling Bleu Ocean because of that too πŸ™‚

  84. Kristin

I live a few blocks away from 906 Dundas St W, so when I first read on your blog that you guys were moving further down east, I was really saddened by the news. But looking at the pictures and comments, I’m glad that the both of you have made progress. Since Toronto is currently experiencing some heavy downpour, I’ll wait until Mr. Blue Sky comes back so I can visit your new store – I’ve been wanting to special order something, so I can’t wait for the awesome trip (though I also love the rain as it gives a crisp air and makes the landscapes look more vibrant after, if you understand what I mean).
    J. Herbin makes incredible fountain pen ink. I was dazzled by how their shadings can be of different color, especially the Rouge Hematite – my favorite ink from the brand since it was the first that got me mesmerized (red and gold!). And Stormy Grey – who would’ve thought a monochrome colour can look so enchanting? I know an English teacher who loves blue ink, so maybe the Bleu Ocean would be perfect for his retirement present.

  85. Erin

I am so excited to try the new bleu ocean, I already have the other two, and it is so difficult to decide which one is my favourite, but I think I use Stormy grey more, I’m just waiting for the right pen to clean out so that I can ink up Rouge Hematite again. I’m so glad that so far you’re happy with the move.

  86. Mano

I recently heard about your shop from my Wife who works close by and am really looking forward to visiting soon. These square ink bottles have a beautiful aesthetic, with the rope and wax decal, and I can’t wait to try them out.

Best of luck with the new location!
    -Mano

  87. You must be so happy to finally be done with the move and having everything in one place! Good luck with finding the unavoidable little things still hiding in boxes (or boxes hiding in corners) here and there…
All three of those inks look awesome. I’d be delighted to have the opportunity to write letters using such lovely inks!

  88. Biggi

Ooohhhh, hello there πŸ™‚ stormy grey all the way! I’ve been enjoying some great sunshine and about 16 degrees up here in northern Ontario! Was snowing yesterday though!

  89. CP

I can’t decide which ink I like most … I do like the bottles though ^^. Stopped by the store, and it’s definitely a lot bigger than the old place. I bought my first piston filler pen recently at your store (TWSBI). Warm weather? What’s that? πŸ˜› It was pretty chilly and rainy today.

  90. Marcie B

I am very new to fountain pens and I am a big fan of the new bleu ocean. I only went to your old store once and have now been to the new store. What a great space and neighborhood. Today it is raining and so hanging out inside, making inserts for my fauxdori but recently it has been wonderful days to spend with my 4 year old at the park near cherry beach. Thanks for the opportunity and can’t wait to see new stock coming to the store.

  91. Louise Thompson

I love your posts and although it is difficult for me, Ihope to be able to make a trip to your store. I have dabbled with calligraphy, fountain pens and inks over the years. I absolutely love the beautiful blue ink. Never seen any thing quite like it. Congratulations on your new location!

  92. g2-af40eb7f1a15ba8ddc77ab17a5137118

Congratulations on the move! The weather here in London has been hot, then cool, then rainy, then cold. It looks like it will be getting hot again.

  93. After the reformulation, I’m looking forward to the new (and improved!) Bleu Ocean. The weather this weekend was very gloomy with downpour throughout the day, so I’ve been staying dry and playing with my pups indoors. Thankfully they don’t like getting wet much either.

  94. undecided

I have not yet seen the new store and have yet to try any Herbin inks. Hopefully this is a great chance to kill two birds with one stone!

  95. Hey, congratulations on your new shop. I’m too far away (Haliburton) to visit, but since I’ve just discovered your site, I’ll take advantage of Canadian shopping/shipping. Long term journallist — and re-discovering FPs in the last year or so; what a pleasure to write with, so much less tiring than ball points and gels. I’m even experimenting with dip pens so I can use a variety of colours without having to ink up a new pen each time.

  96. So far I have only been an online customer, though am overdue for a visit to Toronto and will definitely come to the store when I am next there. I love J. Herbin inks and am slowly collecting their different colours. Of the special anniversary inks, I have only had a chance to try the Stormy Grey. It’s fabulous, and from what I can see of the other two, they are as well. Hope I can see for myself before too long.

Congratulations on the move, and very best wishes for the new location.

  97. Hello!
My favourite out of these three is definitely the Stormy Grey. The contrast between the coal grey colour and the flecks of gold is to die for. I’m moving to Montreal in the summer, but I’m stopping by Toronto first, so I’m super excited to drop in your new store πŸ™‚

  98. Mel

I think Stormy Grey is the one I’d be most excited to try. There seems to be the most amount of gold particles in that one (the more, the better!).

Looking forward to visiting your shop this weekend. πŸ™‚

  99. Looking forward to shopping at your new location which is closer to me – this means more frequent treats for myself. LOL Glad everything is working out for you…

The Stormy Grey looks like it might be an interesting ink for business purposes.

    Cheers, Sandra

  100. mycoffeepot

Hooray for giveaway! Hello my friends! I’ll see if I can swing by sometime this week as I’m staycationing at the moment. My favourite of the three would have to be rouge hematite but I’d love to try the new formula of bleu ocean–I’ve got the onl one and love it but need to get my hands on the new goldtastic sparklerific version. Regards!
    -Gerald

  101. Cathy

I have only seen photos of these incredible inks, and I covet them all … as a resident of Nova Scotia, I am most intrigued by the Bleu Ocean because I imagine it evoking the Atlantic ocean on a sunny day.

  102. Romano Klomp

I just want to try everything……Wonder Pens is the only store I buy from as I have had great service from the owners and really enjoy following them in their journey. I almost feel like I am there with them….guess that’s why I will buy my products from them. Best of luck in your new location.

  103. Katie

Hello from Calgary! Every one of those inks seems so precious, I think I like the blue one the best, the gold sheen just gives it an almost magical quality. Congrats on the new location, it’s looking great!

  104. Adam

I love J. Herbin inks. I have the red and blue in this special edition but not the grey. I would love to have a set of all three!

  105. Jen

Stormy grey because I love thunderstorms….and snowstorms…haven’t tried it yet, but it sounds lovely πŸ™‚

  106. Rock Bisson Picard

Thanks for your exceptional service. My favourite ink presented over is the blue ocean. Il like write with blue ink and specially on midori paper!

  107. Ed L.

I have never had the pleasure of trying any of these inks. More than likely I’ll end up picking up a bottle or two from your great shop at some time. Most likely the blue as my favourite inks are in that colour family. Black/grey are too plain for me but I understand the fascination with sheen, gloss and glow.

  108. Claire

Would love to try any of these, but if I must pick, let it be blue!! I live in Quebec so have never visited the store. Maybe some day!

  109. Steve

Hi, Thanks for the giveaway! I like Rouge Hematite the best of the two I tried but still enjoy Stormy Grey immensely!

  110. EJ

So glad I was able to visit Toronto on Friday and see your new space and, of course, stock up on a few supplies – one being a bright yellow pen. Always great service and have to admit that I’ve added a few more things to my wishlist.

I have always had a special place in my heart for blue inks, not sure why except that maybe it’s because as a child I was given a calligraphy set by my godparents and the ink included was blue – a number of times I was also blue…not the best idea to give a calligraphy set to a child but I did love that set. My love of blue ink continues today, so I would have to say that I’d love to have a bottle of Bleu Ocean. There is just something about blue ink that I have always loved.

  111. Scott Brownridge

Congrats on your successful move to the new location! The original Ocean Blue is one of my favourite inks, so I’m looking forward to trying out this latest member of the 1670 family.

  112. Harald Benz

Welcome to the East side of life!
Can’t wait to visit the new store.

Must admit I haven’t tried either one of those Anniversary inks. I am curious to see the Stormy Grey or the Rouge Hematite. Somehow I’m not much of a blue fan when it comes to inks but love red tones. So the rouge would be my first choice. Thanks.

  113. Wow how generous Liz and Jon! I have ALOT of J. Herbin ink but none of these special anniversary editions. I have never been to Toronto but you and your store are an excellent reason to change that! Best of luck in the new digs. πŸ™‚

  114. Marc St. Marie

Congratulations on your move! Change is often viewed as a scary thing even when it’s a positive thing. Best of luck to you and I plan to stop in if I ever visit Toronto.
My personal favourite out of the three is Rouge Hematite, but I have never used Bleu Ocean.

  115. Sophie

I went to Toronto only once in my life, and it was for last year’s Scriptus pen show. It was a super fun adventure — even when our bus from Montreal to Toronto had a mechanical problem which caused a four hours delay in a rest area in the middle of nowhere… We spent the day at the pen show, my husband following me around (he is not that much into fountain pens…) but when we finally left, I couldn’t convince him to make a detour to see your shop before we head back to Montreal. I made him promise that this year, though, we would stay longer and come visit you at your new place!
Good luck with the store, enjoy your new neighbours and keep on the good work! We are truly lucky to have you in Canada for all our pens and inks needs πŸ™‚

  116. Parkin

Finally a store in Canada that I can buy fountain pens and ink from. I love all three of the J. Herbin inks but if I had to choose, I would say bleu ocean, there is just something about that mysterious blue colour with a hint of a gold sheen that makes this ink so special.

  117. Lala

Tough decision! I love all of the colours, but I think Rouge Hematite is still my favourite. Congrats on the new space, looking forward to coming and visiting you in your new location!

  118. Phuong Ma

I’m excited to see the new shop in person! Although I am a bit sad that it is now even further away from me

Greetings and Salutations to Jon, Liz, and Everyone!
The Great Prairie Outback (Brandon, Manitoba) is home and pen and inks can be a tough find- but not totally impossible. I may been around the world twice but to Toronto only once! If I ever get there I will make it a priority to visit your brick and mortar store! Only recently have I discovered your on-line shop and, like others have mentioned, we are fortunate to have a pen shop like Wonder Pens in Canada. I haven’t yet tried any of the J. Herbin inks but I’m leaning to the blue and/or grey so YEA!! thank you so much for the opportunity to potentially win one! Calligraphy is where my heart used to be and it’s finally time for the long awaited revival.
Congratulations on your new space and I wish you all the best penning! Happy, happy, joy, joy!

  121. Jeff Reindl

Congrats on the new shop and thanks for your speedy shipping on my order.
If I am ever in Toronto I will definitely stop by.
If I had to choose It would have to be the red to go with our summer sunrise and sunsets here in Sidney BC.
Enjoy your new space and thanks for keeping pen and ink alive.

  122. Congratulations on your new location. I wish I was close enough to visit but the trip from Kelowna to you is quite a long one (care to open another location???). I’ve had my eye on all three of those inks and any one of them would make me very happy. I’ve been quite intrigued by the Stormy Grey, though. One day… πŸ™‚ Anyway, I wish you all the best in your new location.

  123. metwin1

Hello! Never tried the new formulated Bleu Ocean, but I love both the rouge hematite and the stormy grey. I like the storm grey better though. As for warm weather in Toronto, well, what warm weather? πŸ˜‰

  124. Nina

Hurray for STORMY GRAY ! But I’ll take any J. Herbin ink.

It’s time I let you know how much I’ve enjoyed following the Adventures of J,L,S + Little C . The photos of you all and Maria made me sad – how wrenching it must have been to leave behind this dear friend. I suppose it’s what happens when you tag along with someone else’s life: you share the good, the sad and the renovations.

Thank you for putting so much time and energy into the blog. How do you manage it??? Your photos make my day especially if they’re of Super and Caleb. Though I loved the avocado and fried egg sandwich as well.

Does Caleb ever NOT smile? He looks so wise, he could be a guru.

Thanks for all that and this chance to win.

    Nina

  125. Karen Hooker

Stormy grey all the way! Is the new store puppy friendly? Curious to see the shop, even though I never saw the old one (Boomer was in charge of in-store pick up)

  126. Roland

Hello! I like the sound of storm grey… Could be my favorite because I don’t have a grey ink yet. I’ve been enjoying the warm weather out in my yard with my longbow. One of the perks of non city living!

  127. I love the bleu ocean, reminds me of summer on vancouver island, deep blue flecked with gold. spring has been glorious, spent the weekend in Vancouver wandering around downtown and walking the sea wall at Stanley Park.

I’ve still got Pilot Iroshizuku Ku-Jaku in my Safari, but I’d love to switch it out for the summer with some J. Herbin inks.
Thanks for running the contest, good luck with the new place!

  128. Joseph Wong

I was lucky enough to get a sample of the reformulated Bleu Ocean from the States. I love this reformulated ink with the gold sheen. The blue is a nice, saturated blue, leaning toward indigo. It would be quite appropriate even in most work environments. Flow is nice, drying time is very reasonable.

Btw, congratulations on your new space.

  129. Greybabylove

Hi guys! I’m so glad I found your site! Finding good pen and ink sellers in Canada can be a challenge. I had my first fountain pen oops last night, with Diamine Pumpkin everywhere! My hands were orange but now they are pink for some reason haha. I think my favorite 1670 ink is the stormy grey. I’ve got so many blue inks which get boring, and I don’t use red very often. Anyways, thanks for giving the opportunity to win some great inks! Cheers!

  130. Brandon

Can’t wait to come check out the new space, congrats on the move. It’s nice to see shops like yours flourishing!

  131. Wish I were in the GTA, would love to the see the shop… I have a sampler of the grey on my desk right now, haven’t gotten my pen cleaned out yet to try it. Friend also got me a sample of the blue so will try that next I see him as well… so… can’t pick a fav yet. πŸ˜€

  132. Jonathan C

Hey and congrats on the new store!! If I am ever in town I will be visiting!
Still waiting for the things to really warm up out West but enjoying the days as they come! Would love to try out the Stormy Grey! I blame the cloud cover we have today! If you asked me yesterday then it would have been Bleu Ocean! Cheers and take care!

  133. Claudia Harrel

Hi. I’ve been unwell all my 71 years. But oh, the hours happily lost in the enchanting world of pens and ink and paper! I like the Bleu Ocean best but love all three colours. They remind me that inside the dark days there’s still joy and sparkle to be found. Best wishes for your new enterprise and your beautiful family. Claudia

  134. Susan S.

Congratulations on your move. I look forward to visiting on my next visit to Toronto. I’ve been very curious to try either the Stormy Grey or Bleu Ocean.

  135. Lorne Strachan

Rouge Hematite! The name is almost enough but ‘Stormy Grey’ is kinda cool too. I love the SG but we get so much grey in Toronto my vote goes to RH for its lovely shades of bright colour highlighted with flecks of gold. On a dreary day between November and March it’s comforting and hints at a brighter future around the corner.

p.s. The west end’s loss is the east end’s gain. I’ll be walking up from the Beaches some day soon to check out the new store. Loved the old one and never went away empty-handed but it required making a special trip.

  136. Alexandre Boily

    Bonjour de MontrΓ©al!

We have… warm weather? I guess? Anything can happen anytime of the day. At least the herbs and peppers I’m growing are healthy and flavourful! They’re quite enjoying the rain we have.

I received my order last Monday. Tremendously enjoying the TWSBI with Blue Eel!

I can’t get enough blue. More blue. Bluuuuuuuuue πŸ˜€

(Meanwhile, I need to get some of my girlfriend’s Stormy Gray…)

  137. Josh Nelson

Greetings from the west coast. As the weather warms, I shall be escaping for a little boating adventure. A Bleu Ocean ink would suit well for post cards from the sea.

  138. ochatea

Hello Jon, Liz, Caleb & Super!
Thanks for doing such a great giveaway πŸ™‚ My fave… thus far, is Stormy Grey, purchased from you guys. Haven’t tried any of the other inks, so I’d love to get my hot little hands on it.
No plans for the summer, it’s been a cloudy few days in Vancouver.

  139. Albert

Congratulations on your new location! I always goggle at the bleu ocean and how it leaves a beautiful finish πŸ™‚ The weather where I am at is a little cloudy but perhaps the sunshine is just around the corner.

  140. Yorgle

Congratulations on the move! I don’t live in Toronto so I can’t visit the new store, but I’m definitely looking forward to placing another order!

  141. wayne

Wishing you all the best at the new location!
See you in July at the calligraphy class.

    wayne

    p.s.
    Stormy Grey

  142. Adam M

Congratulations on the opening of the new place. The bottle of ink I bought from the old location is still going strong, but I can’t pass up a chance to try these out. Stormy Grey appeals to me the most, but all three look fantastic. All the best to you and your family.

  143. Joe

Can’t wait until I’m in Toronto to drop by and see the new shop. I am so excited for you guys and am glad that we have a great Canadian option for our addictions πŸ˜›

  144. Catherine

Hi! I love this line of inks. There is something very romantic about them, in a tall, dark, and brooding kind of way. If I had to pick one ink I’d have to go with Rouge Hematite. Can’t wait to see the new store (hopefully sometime this weekend).

  145. Chris

First off, congratulations on successfully moving in to the new place. Unfortunately I couldn’t come visit on opening day but I will for sure be dropping by more often now that the store is closer to where I live.

I haven’t tried any of the three inks yet, so I sure do hope I win this giveaway!

  146. Janella

Went by the new shop earlier this week and bought my very first fountain pen πŸ™‚ Thank you to Jon for being so patient with me as a novice (and slightly naive) new calligrapher – having no idea about pens or inks! Also went home with some Noodlers Ink and a wee Rhodia dot pad. Thanks so much for the wonderful service. I had such a great experience! Will definitely be back soon for more goodies! Hope that y’all will get some more calligraphy supplies soon!

  147. Samantha

Hi! I’m very tempted to make a trip to Toronto just so I can visit a real Fountian Pen shop! If you ever opened a store in Saskatchewan then I’d be your number one customer.
If I had to pick my favourite, I’d say Bleu Ocean – it reminds me of the colour of my grad dress. I’ve never tried any of the three though!

  148. I came by and met you a week or so ago and have since sent 4 more people your way. Just so happy to have found the shop and am enjoying discovering new inks and pens. Will definitely be back soon!

  149. I am looking forward to visiting your new store! I would love to win Bleu ocean… I have stormy grey, and I like it, but I love bleu ocean more… πŸ™‚ thanks for the chance to win!! πŸ™‚

  150. Hey Jon and Liz! I hope the new location is treating you guys well, and maybe I’ll get a chance to visit your new location on my birthday. If I got a chance to try any of these I think the Stormy Grey would suit me best. I’m luckily not that far from you guys and maybe I’ll get some time to stop by on a day off. People keep saying it’s not that humid yet, and I think they need to tell that to the sugar in my sugar bowl!

  151. Nadia

I still haven’t made it to the shop, but one of these days I will! I’m always on the lookout for beautiful inks so your Instagram always inspires.
The Bleu Ocean is my favourite of these inks because it looks like something a mermaid would use.

  152. Oh, I love the red, and the blue, and the grey! I also love the new shop! It looks great, especially the string lights and the chalk wall. All the best!

I like 18 degrees which seems to happen for 10 minutes 6 times a year:)

  153. Robert

    Hello Jon & Liz

Kinda late to the party but going to give it a shot anyways. I definitely would say the Stormy Grey is going to be my favorite from the looks of it. Simply because of the slight graphite look to it which reminds me of all the school work that i should be doing instead of daydreaming.
Not really able to enjoy the nice weather since im in summer school but would love to sit on the porch with an iced tea when i do get the chance. πŸ™‚

  154. Shaun D

I have yet to try the ocean blue, but, from the reviews, I suspect it will be my favorite when I do. Of the two that I’ve used, indefinitely like stormy grey better than the red. I did like the red more than I thought I would because the sample images I saw on the Internet just don’t do it justice. Nice set of 3 colours though.

  155. I hope I get a chance to go to Toronto to visit the new shop! My favourite is Stormy Grey because the gold makes the grey even more interesting!

  156. Antonella Lucente

Hi there. Blue Ocean is my all time favourite. Its a classy blue and it makes a strong statement. I use it daily and use it special occasion greeting cards. As a result I am down to the last drop. Keeping my fingers crossed. Congrats on new location we came from the west end on your opening day.

  157. Ken Riles

Hello and congrats on the new location. I am looking forward to an opportunity to see it myself. Thanks for the chance to win some ink and would love to have any one of the colors, in particular the stormy grey. Cheers.

  158. Tida

I haven’t had time to visit the new location yet but I really want to take a calligraphy class when they’re available!
I’ve always wanted to try Stormy Grey since I first saw it… Bleu Ocean looks so shimmery and mysterious as well!

  159. Vijenthra Rupagantha

    Hello Liz/Jon,
As usual I’ll be there every weekend for the rest of the summer. It’s seems I can’t get enough of all the inks available…it’s so crazy…think I’m an INKHEAD!!! (Well that’s what my wife calls me). Sadly I haven’t tried any of the J Herbins anniversary but if I had to choose Rouge Hematite would be the one.
Hopefully this summer will be spent writing and trying to watch as many classic movies from the 1940s.
Like I always say an adventure is only a bottle of ink away…(ohh no she’s sees me posting)
    πŸ˜€

  160. Nicholas Yeung

Hey guys, I’m so sad that you’ve moved away from Dundas. It used to be just around the corner from me and now its a ttc ride away. πŸ™ But good job on the move, I will visit sometime soon.

  161. Mike N

Hello, I discovered your shop a few months ago and got the Rouge Hematite, I’m loving it. Good luck with the new location, I’ll visit for sure next time I’m in town.
