Noodler’s Lexington Gray Ink with a Dip Pen

April 13, 2013 by wonderpens 3 Comments

We got a couple of dip pens for the store – when we find a place in Toronto’s crazy real estate market – so people can come in and just dip in to test out the inks, rather than inking up and having to clean a pen. We’re learning a lot about how to make … [Read more…]

Filling a Converter with Ink

Many fountain pens are cartridge/converter fountain pens, which means you can use either disposable cartridges (pop a cartridge in the back and throw out when empty, or refill cartridges with syringe) or you can a converter. Here’s how you can fill a pen, a Jinhao 126, with Noodler’s Operation Overlord Orange, using a piston converter. … [Read more…]

In praise of the handwritten note

April 4, 2013 by wonderpens Leave a Comment

Toronto Star wrote an article “In praise of the handwritten note” – which speaks perfectly to the vision of Wonder Pens. The article actually focuses on PAL-SAC, a social club that meets in Toronto and locations around the world to write handwritten letters to loved ones and important people in the world (and sometimes they … [Read more…]

We have currently placed orders or begun discussions with several companies, and the first three have arrived. It’s been a learning curve with UPS and getting through customs with brokerage fees and duties. We are putting Private … [Read more…]

Why Fountain Pens?

March 23, 2013 by wonderpens Leave a Comment

In other parts of the world today, including Europe and Asia, and before my generation in North America, fountain pens were widely available in a much lower price range for both school-aged learning and everyday use. Higher-end fountain pens were and are seen as a status symbol, but the everyday use of fountain pens was … [Read more…]

Just a reminder that we will not be hosting our monthly Letter Writing Club this December! This season is always a bit crazy for us. We will miss hanging out with you all, but trust you will remain strong in your Christmas and holiday card efforts.

I always thought I was a dog person until we got Chicken, our shop cat. He is everything a cat is known for: by turns aloof, affectionate, unimpressed, playful, willfully ill behaved, sweet, demanding, obnoxious, hungry, picky, and completely unknowable. He has been disdainfully educating me on what it means to be a cat person, harasses the dog regularly, and remains the most popular member of our shop team.

Cat lovers rejoice: with me, you can now ponder all of life’s mysteries and questions with feline advice. from a tarot deck of the ultimate in cat characters. Who else could truly understand and direct a cat person’s life but a cat?

A surprise appearance by a few of these beauties: the Lamy 2000 Bauhaus in a dark, elegant blue makrolon. This is a numbered limited edition, and comes in a gift box with a thick, hard bound notebook. Our first batch went so fast we didn’t have time to post it, and so we’re glad to receive just a few more.
